Download an installer
Section titled “Download an installer”Open Lomi releases and choose a package for your operating system. Use the filenames listed on that release page; new Lomi installer names become available when the rebranded release is published.
| System | Package |
|---|---|
| macOS, Apple Silicon or Intel | DMG for your processor |
| Windows, x64 | EXE or MSI installer |
| Linux, x86_64 | AppImage, DEB or RPM |
On macOS, open the DMG and copy the application to Applications. On Windows, run one of the installers. On Linux, install the DEB or RPM with your distribution’s package manager. For the AppImage, give the downloaded file execute permission in the file manager, then open it.
First launch
Section titled “First launch”- Start Lomi.
- Select Open folder or repository and choose a local project folder.
- Open a file from Explorer or run a command in the terminal.
- Use the + button to add a tab. On macOS, press Command + D to open a new terminal window. Use New workspace in the Workspaces sidebar to start a separate task in the same project.
Updates
Section titled “Updates”Use Settings > About > Check for updates. Windows and macOS can install signed application updates after checking open work and saving the session. Linux shows instructions for updating through the package manager or replacing the downloaded package.
The updater and manual downloads use lomi-dev/lomi on GitHub. The rebranded application uses dev.lomi.desktop and a new data directory; previous profiles and saved API keys are not migrated automatically.
Versions 0.3.0 and 0.4.0 have a two-minute total update download timeout. If a large update repeatedly fails, close the application normally and use the installer from GitHub Releases.
Run from source
Section titled “Run from source”Install Node.js 22.12.0 or newer, pnpm 11.25.0 and stable Rust. Install the Tauri prerequisites for your operating system: developer tools on macOS, C++ build tools and WebView2 on Windows, or the listed Linux development libraries.
On macOS, install Xcode 26 or newer, including its command-line tools. The development and installer commands compile the Icon Composer app icon with xcrun actool; standalone Command Line Tools are not enough for that step.
git clone https://github.com/lomi-dev/lomi.gitcd lomipnpm install --frozen-lockfilepnpm tauri devThe first native build downloads and verifies the pinned Node runtime used by Chat AI and compiles the Rust application. Allow network access and time for that initial build.
pnpm dev starts only the browser frontend at http://127.0.0.1:1420. Native terminals, file operations and embedded browser panels require pnpm tauri dev.
To build a local executable without installer bundles:
pnpm tauri build --no-bundleInstaller builds use pnpm tauri build and require the signing configuration described in the repository’s release guide.
Platform limits
Section titled “Platform limits”The release includes macOS ARM64/x64, Windows x64 and Linux x86_64 packages. Managed Android setup and Start are currently enabled only on macOS Apple Silicon. Chat AI generation requires macOS 13.5 or newer; older macOS versions can still open stored chat history.
